Transcript Reimbursement Fund Pro Per Pilot Project
The Legislature has enacted SB1181, a 24-month pilot project that provides low-income pro per litigants with limited access to the Transcript Reimbursement Fund (TRF). Beginning in January 2011, pro per applicants in qualifying civil cases can apply to have their court or deposition transcripts paid for through the TRF. The amount for each case is limited to $1,500. Pro per applicants must obtain a fee waiver from the court and must request an estimate for the cost of transcript(s) from the court reporter(s). A pro per TRF application must be completed and a copy of the fee waiver must be included in the application package.
